Venice Art Walk May 2014
[hr] The Venice Art Walk and Auctions was founded in 1979 to help raise money for the Venice Family Clinic. It was held this year in the Google headquarters. I was invited to have a painting in the auction. I chose to include my painting of Gracie, John Baldessari‘s son’s dog. Tony Baldessari commissioned it and graciously allowed me to display it for the occasion.
The painting of Gracie was not up for auction but was an example of a pet portrait that I would do for the person who bid on it. There was a winner and I am glad I could contribute to the cause. We raised over 600,000 for the Clinic!
The mission of the Venice Family Clinic is to “provide quality primary health care to people in need.” Here is a review of the Venice Art Walk.

[hr]It was a beautiful day for an art walk. My boyfriend John and I rode our bikes to Google Headquarters on Main St. We parked our bikes in the free valet they had set up for us, got our tickets and then toured the art auction. Afterwards we got a map of the art walk, passed all the food trucks set up for the occasion and walked around Venice enjoying all the great art in artist’s studios. It’s always interesting to see where artists live and work. I highly recommend going on the art walk next year![hr]
